dum de dum
29 03 2007I’m sitting at one of the places that is becoming one of my favorite places to go- Rendevous House of Coffee. I’ve been here for 2 and a 1/2 hours faithfully writing a paper on the death penalty. I work better under pressure- a nice way to say I’m a bit of a procrastinator. Honestly, I haven’t been looking forward to writing this particular paper- and if you know me, you know I enjoy writing papers (I’m odd).

As I’ve been here researching even more on the subject on google, in my MHR reader and other books I have laying around the house, it has really sparked an interest in me about this subject. I am against the death penalty.
Only recently in 2002 and 2005 did they make a law that the death penalty does not apply to juvenile crimes committed under 18. I’ve been in countless juvenile detention facilities, and I’ve met many who have a life sentence in prison (which seems like death anyway, doesn’t it?) Recalling it all is making it even more real to me. I’ve also realized that Without question, this is more of a complicated subject than we realize. It runs deep in our souls to what we believe. I’ve really been researching lately more on political issues, keeping up to date on what’s going on in many arenas and making things that wouldn’t naturally of interest to me, an interest to me. I think it’s important that as a Christian, first of all, and a U.S. citizen, second of all, I know what’s going on and I’m informed so that I can accurately be involved and be affective. I am heart and soul an artist and I want to create what matters. I’m not just taking pictures. I’m becoming an activist artist of sorts. Photos of what I believe in. Photos of the Word in what I envision it to be and what it speaks to me. Photos of issues and where I stand on them.
Didn’t mean to end up ranting like this. I have to run to the studio in about 10 minutes, get all pretty and take dance pictures for tap. Then, another half an hour or so here at Rendevous, home and to class.
Cool news: trip to San Francisco is on.; April 9th-13th. If you’re in the area and want to hang, let me know. Andrew and I will rockkk the city. I’m super excited.
Ah, running out the door. Lateeee.
